I’m in the minority of people I know at the moment with the fact that I absolutely love Windows 8. I got myself a new laptop late last year and upgraded to Windows 8 at the same time and ever since then I’ve been a major fan.

But Windows 8 isn’t taking over the world as Microsoft would have liked so they are working very hard at the moment to push the benefits of the new operating system and its cross compatibility with the Xbox 360 and Microsoft phones.

The latest move is to announce that Xbox Live Arcade titles are now playable on Windows 8 and Windows RT. When I saw this headline I was psyched as I thought I could now play my ‘splosion man and Castle Crashers on the PC which would be awesome.

Unfortunately that isn’t the case, while it may be possible later on you are only able to play 13 XBLA titles at launch and I can’t say any of them really excite me much. The list is as follows

  • Toy Soldiers 4
  • Elements: Special Edition
  • Hydro Thunder Hurricane, Rocket Riot 3D
  • Reckless Racing Ultimate
  • Microsoft Solitaire Collection
  • Microsoft Mahjong
  • Microsoft Minesweeper
  • Taptiles
  • Adera
  • Pinball FX2
  • Wordament
  • Gunstringer: Dead Man Running
  • Ilomilo+, Skulls of the Shogun.

But if Microsoft put some cash forward for the developers to port their games this could really be a fantastic feature that will pull in a lot of Xbox gamers into the Windows 8 world.
