If you ever had the pleasure of owning a Xbox 360 and never played the very first Crackdown, you probably missed out on one of the best exclusives Microsoft’s console had. Ignoring the lazy sequel, Crackdown was a mash of all the good stuff from Grand Theft Auto – augmented with its own brand of over-the-top mayhem and super powered anti-heroism. It was unbelievably addictive – which is why we’re all eagerly awaiting its reboot.
Crackdown is coming – fresh as ever – to the Xbox One. The game was revealed ages ago already, but since seeing the incredibly gorgeous, cel-shaded CGI trailer, we haven’t actually heard anything about its development. With E3 fast approaching, many are wondering if Microsoft are planning a big surprise with the title – but Phil Spencer isn’t giving anything away.
When asked whether the title would take the stage at Microsoft’s E3 press conference, Spencer refused to confirm (or deny) it. Instead, the Xbox head wants to keep everything as much as a surprise as possible.
@Weeng_man Sorry, we aren’t great at keeping our E3 news our until E3, last think team needs is me leaking stuff.

He did, however, state that the game is making very good progress – despite the absence from the limelight
@vittorionzoloo @PNF4LYFE Sorry, not announcing what games are where right now but Crackdown is making great progress.

So does that mean Crackdown will be an E3 no show? I think it’ll actually be quite the opposite. Phil Spencer has emphasised how much their conference is going to focus on first-party and exclusive titles this year, with Rise of the Tomb Raider and the new Gears of War set to headline the show. It would not be surprising for the first glimpse of Crackdown gameplay to feature somewhere too – with a release date possibly attached.
That would certainly make me extremely happy, since I’m still trying to wash out the horrible taste Crackdown 2 left in my mouth.

It would be funny if MS and EA wax lyrical on stage about FIFA like they did the past 2 years.
