Xbox Live’s free this weekend!

If you’ve got an Xbox and a internet access but’ve been a little hesitant to pair the two together then there’s no better time to work up the bravery than this weekend. The reason?

Free Xbox Live Gold!

From 11am on Friday 9th  8am the following Monday, Xbox Live will be free- yes, even for we South Africans. Now you won’t get access to everything card-carrying, paid up Gold Subscribers, but you will – and this is important – be able to play multiplayer online. So if you’ve got Xbox Live Silver – or no Xbox Live account at all – and a copy of Modern Warfare 3 or Battlefield 3 and have no idea just what the heck all the fuss is about, hop online and discover the joys of online multiplayer.

Fair warning though; it can be pretty addictive!

The free weekend will also grant you temporary access to Facebook through your console, and if you have a Kinect sensor, you can also dabble with Video Kinect. There’s really very little reason for you not  to give it a try. Need more details? Grab em here.

Those of you who’re already on Live; got any multiplayer gaming suggestions for newcomers to try out this weekend? Me? I recommend firing up Gears of War 3 and playing Horde Mode with some friends.

Editor. I'm old, grumpy and more than just a little cynical. One day, I found myself in possession of a NES, and a copy of Super Mario Bros 3. It was that game that made me realise that games were more than just toys to idly while away time - they were capable of being masterpieces. I'm here now, looking for more of those masterpieces.
