Your PC needs to be this fast to ride with The Crew

I live my life one DD3 RAM update at a time. 2014 has already seen two high profile racing games released, in the form of the rather superb Forza Horizon 2 and the lonely yet competent DriveClub. Third time’s the charm however, as Ubisoft is preparing to roll out The Crew. Another open-world racer, it’s looking like a fine middle-ground game for folks who aren’t into either of the two big releases mentioned above. And it also has the added bonus of being console-agnostic. But can your PC ride with the big boys?

Here’s the official spectrum of hardware and parts that you’ll need to run the game, straight from Ubisoft:

VERY IMPORTANT! This product ONLY supports 64-bit operating systems!

Minimum Configuration:

  • Operating System: Windows 7 SP1, Windows 8/8.1 (64bit)
  • Processor: Intel Core2 Quad Q9300 @ 2.5 GHz or AMD Athlon II X4 620 @ 2.6 GHz (or better)
  • RAM: 4GB
  • Video card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX260 or AMD Radeon HD4870 (512MB VRAM with Shader Model 4.0 or higher)
  • DirectX: DirectX June 2010 Redistributable
  • Sound: DirectX Compatible Sound Card with latest drivers
  • Peripherals: Keyboard required, XBOX 360 controller optional (or compatible controller)

Recommended Configuration:

  • Operating System: Windows 8/8.1 (64bit)
  • Processor: Intel Core i5-750 @ 2.66 GHz or AMD Phenom II X4 940 @ 3.0 GHz (or better)
  • RAM: 8GB
  • Video card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX580 or AMD Radeon 6870 (1024MB VRAM with Shader Model 5.0 or higher)
  • DirectX: DirectX June 2010 Redistributable
  • Sound: DirectX Compatible Sound Card with latest drivers
  • Peripherals: Keyboard required, XBOX 360 controller optional (or compatible controller)

Optimal Configuration:

  • Operating System: Windows 8/8.1 (64bit)
  • Processor: Intel Core i7-2600K @ 3.4 GHz or AMD FX-8150 @ 3.6 GHz (or better)
  • RAM: 8GB
  • Video card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX670 or AMD Radeon 7870 (2048MB VRAM with Shader Model 5.0 or higher)
  • DirectX: DirectX June 2010 Redistributable
  • Sound: DirectX Compatible Sound Card with latest drivers
  • Peripherals: Keyboard required, XBOX 360 controller optional (or compatible controller)
  • Supported Video Cards at Release Time:
  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX260 or better, GTX400, GTX500, GTX600, GTX700, GTX900 series;
  • AMD Radeon HD4870 or better, HD5000, HD6000, HD7000, R7 and R9 series;
  • Latest tested driver: GeForce 340.52 for all DX10 NVIDIA cards (GTX200) and 344.48 for all DX11 NVIDIA cards (GTX400 – GTX900).
  • Latest tested driver: Catalyst 13.1 for HD4000 series and Catalyst 14.9 for all other Radeon cards.

Notes:

  • The Crew requires that a driver more recent than 14.6 is installed for Windows 7 and 8/8.1. Performance issues may arise when using inferior versions of the video driver (14.4 and below) on these operating systems.
  • Laptop correspondent models of the above desktop specifications as well as newer CPU and Video Cards, may work but have not been exhaustively tested.

You can also find more details below in the Nvidia trailer which talks about several fancy new additions that benefit PC gamers who have adopted that brand. Naturally, the game is going to run absolutely terrible on my Pentium II 400Mhz PC that has a Matrox Mystique graphics card inside of it.

  1. I played the beta on my PC which is a tad over the AMD recommended requirements – ran quite nicely indeed.

I really wanted this game when I first heard about it, but over time it started to look a bit like a hit and miss.

I’ve never updated my win 7. Ever.
Never had a single problem either.
To get The Crew and update my windows, or leave things just the way they are?
Leave things just the way they are methinks.

I`m just silently waiting for the official Far Cry 4 System Requirements. After seeing Unity`s, I`m a little bit scared to say the least hahahaha.

Unity is a badly developed game that’s why it needs that kind of machine its got absolutely nothing to do with graphic fidelity.

The Crew is a racing game built around always online DRM. It’s funny how the requirements don’t mention the internet needs. Oh my PC can handle the game but if I don’t have internet then the game becomes useless. Oh my PC can play this game but if I don’t have internet then I can’t buy this game.

Don’t support DRM. Don’t support Ubisoft.
