Midweek Mouth-off: The 3D deterrent

42 second read

A simple question for today’s Midweek Mouth-off: As we get into the midyear blockbuster season and it seems like every second film is screening in shot-for 3D or converted 3D, we want to know how you feel about that?

Will you suck it up and watch the film in 3D if you don’t have a 2D option? Alternatively, will you skip the movie on the big screen entirely and wait for the 2D DVD and Blu-ray? Is the domination of 3D chasing you away from the big screen? Let us know.

Not a fan of 3D… 90% of the time it’s added it’s converted specifically so that the film makers can make some more bucks, and rarely adds anything to the film…That being said though, the local film house is only in 3D, and their general service (entirely different topic though) and 2D quality films tend to be shocking.. at least 3D films are higher quality, right?

Personally, I hate 3D. I have yet to watch a movie where I feel that 3D improved the movie, and generally it detracts from the entire experience. So, if I can’t watch a movie in 2D I will wait for the DVD. Its not worth it.

Is it just me, or was Avatar the ONLY 3D movie released thus far that actually looked AWESOME and worth the extra cost of a ticket? Iron Man 3 was cool, but could it have been a better experience for me without 3D?

Hugo did a fantastic job as well.

I’ll always pick 2D over 3D, and if they give me no choice then I’ll probably just wait for DVD. The only movie I’ve seen where the 3D actually enhanced the experience for me was Coraline (and that was quite some time ago).

Try watching 3D films when you have to wear spectacles as well those 3D glasses… I prefer 2D.

I watch very few movies in 3D but that’s because very few movies actually benefit from the 3D treatment. That said, who would not want to watch Life of Pi or Avatar in 3D though?
