The Lazygamer crew, and by that I mean myself and Gavin because Geoff and Zoe are cowards/intelligent, have been dipping into some hot stuff lately. Gavin would have habaneros, I’d down hot sauce. But I think I have him beat. Because I just ate one of the hottest peppers known to man.
[Gavin edit] Seriously this gets quite revolting after he downs the milk.. if you have a weak stomach watch until his last drink of milk and then just stop… Don’t say you have not been warned, Continue to watch Darryn attempt the Ghost Pepper Challenge [/edit]
If you can’t watch the video above, then here’s the short and sweet of what I just did: I ate a Bhut Jolokia chili, and it burnt like a well-timed insult from Rodney Dangerfield. There’s no way to properly describe what I experienced. There was pure heat, pain, I couldn’t breathe at one point and for some reason I started developing web-fluid glands in my mouth.
Hell, I couldn’t even use my mouth properly for a half hour afterwards. This stuff, is the real deal. Heat rating? A motherloving Hate/10.

Had to look that one up. That will give you permanent ring sting on the chutney valve…

Or just go straight to the pinnacle…Blairs 16m reserve, pure crystalline capsaicin. Bhut Jolokia is roughly 1 million scoville. Blairs 16m is 16,000,000 scoville. And according to Blair, it’s like smashing your tongue with a hammer, and then dealing with a swollen tongue for the next few weeks.

I currently own Blairs 3am reserve, which is ‘only’ 2 million scoville. Having tried the 3am, I can’t even begin to tell you what 16m would be like…but, I’d try it hehe.

Hehehe, I love hot food dude, absolutely love it. When I make curry, I usually use all sorts of peppers (habaneros, jalapenos, pablano’s, hungarian wax etc…), I de-vein and de-seed them, slice them very thin and throw all but the habaneros into a saute pan with water chestnuts, bean sprouts, and whatever other veg I can get my hands on. In a different pan I saute chicken in pomegranate molasses. And in a pot, I cook some really good Jasmine rice that I have.
I throw the habaneros into a coconut milk + curry powder mixture that I reduce for awhile (by about a 3rd), and then if it’s not hot enough, I add the Blairs (In the last 15-20 minutes, I’ll throw in chopped Bok Choi). The peppers are for the flavor, Blairs is for the heat. Muahaha. So good though. It’s one of those recipes where you can’t stop eating it, even though it’s melting the skin off the roof of your mouth. Hilarious to watch my friends try to eat what I make for myself and my brother (we have ridiculously high tolerances), though if I know in advance, I’ll tone it down for company.
No point in making a huge pile of food that only 2 people will eat lol. But yeah, funny vid man, very funny. Just be glad Gavin isn’t making you review games while you suffer from the effects lol. That was the original plan 😉

I’ve seen that Blairs before… I’m sure you could die from that

Capsaicin itself won’t actually kill you, it’s the shock, and the panic that many people feel when they ingest something so much hotter than they expect, that can lead to heart issues.
Turned into an aerosol, it wouldn’t kill you, but it’d really mess up your soft tissue (eyes, nose, throat, sinuses etc…), and put you down for quite some time.
Blair’s is the way to go though, if you like spicy foods, it literally takes a tiny drop to super heat food, though I usually dip a knife into it and stir that into whatever I’m making. Only suggested for folks who have an extreme tolerance heh.

Brian murphy you sir are crazy hahaha 16 m . i would COTCH actually i dont even think i would be able to cotch cause that will burn too 😛 i love hot.. but there is that line…. and there is always someone who crosses that line. guess it was you today

To be fair, I haven’t tried the 16m yet. The 3am is $50/bottle, and the 16m reserve is $250 (last I checked). And it’s not like you can break off a piece of a pure capsaicin crystal. So you’d literally be putting yourself through torture, just to waste $250 lol. I’ll try it someday though, because I love spicy things, I have a massive tolerance, and I don’t panic….that’s the killer, panicking.
Capsaicin’s like acid, once you decide to try it and put it in your body. It’s with you for awhile so sit back and enjoy the ride lol. 🙂

Great vid! Funny as hell! 🙂 And what the heck was that web fluid? Perhaps Ghost Peppers give you special powers? Noticed anything different since you ingested them, Darryn? Apart from the facial numbness and “the morning after effect”?
