Borderlands 2 PS Vita Review Round-Up

3 min read

It's a bust

Here at (A proud partner of Doofenshmirtz Evil Incorporated), we’re all massive fans of Borderlands 2. We’ve sunk dozens and dozens of hours into the game collectively, and the idea of some Borderlands on the go is actually rather intriguing. So what’s the game like then? Rather crap it seems.

PlayStation Lifestyle – 9.5/10

If you own a Vita and haven’t had the opportunity to jump into Borderlands 2 yet, there is no better time than now. If you already own Borderlands 2, you will find that you are honestly paying for the portability, as the game is virtually identical in every way that matters. As amazingly as this game was done, not only is Borderlands 2 an excellent portable version of the console game, I would argue that it is simply one of the best games on the Vita to date.

IGN – 5.4/10

Borderlands 2 is a great game, full stop. But very little of what’s made it a blast to play over the last couple of years hasn’t been poisoned by this version’s technical issues. Its compromised visuals rob it of much of its bombastic charm, while its erratic performance and unreliable touch controls keep the gameplay from shining like it has in the past.

Kotaku – No

Borderlands 2 on Vita is the worst version of a good game. And I really mean that—the core game is still good, funny, fun. No matter how clunky the controls and watered down the visuals, it’s still Borderlands 2 in a lot of respects. But without the smooth bounce of the console/PC version, and without those versions’ four-player co-op, the Vita version sacrifices too much.

The Escapist – 2.5/5

That Borderlands 2 has been squeezed onto the PS Vita with all of its extra content is commendable. That it had to become a far worse game in the process is not.

Lazygamer – I have an excuse this time

I’d have done a review for the game, but I’m still recovering from an accidental exposure to Avril Lavigne’s Hello Kitty song.

Ouch. Well at least on the plus side, Geoff was wrong about the game being only 50% fun. Because according to scores, it’s actually less than half that.

Something wrong gentlemen? You come here prepared to read the words of a madman, and instead found a lunatic obsessed with comics, Batman and Raul Julia’s M Bison performance in the 1994 Street Fighter movie? Fine! Keep your bio! In fact, now might be a good time to pray to it!

    • RinceBroken

Ya. Did you see them last time when Geoff said 50% as a joke reflecting that you can only play with 2 people and how the FanboYZ went off?

  • Hammersteyn

    PlayStation Lifestyle biased much?

    • Alien Emperor Trevor

lol I was just looking at that. The wow is strong with this one.

Sorry, Borderlands 2 on Vita only allows for 2 people to play 😉 Tehehehe

  • RinceBroken

What did they honestly expect? It’s bad enough with the ‘PC Masterbates’ comparing PCs to consoles, but the Vita? really?

    • Alien Emperor Trevor

Really? I take that fanboi comment back Umar, it now belongs to Rince 😛

      • RinceBroken

        I won something!

  • jeremiah

Ive heard nothing but good things about this game. The visuals look really good. What where they expecting? The ps3 version of borderlands was considered the worst.
