Joe Barton, the recently appointed showrunner of the HBO Max The Batman TV series spinoff, will be penning the script to a new film that follows on directly from 2008's Cloverfield.

The Cloverfield films have all had productions so shrouded in secrecy that you never know when to expect the next film. However JJ Abrams is breaking tradition and telling us what we can expect with the next film - or perhaps throwing us further off course entirely.
