The Switch is a damn good console. So good in fact, that it may outlast the usual console cycle tradition as year two is around the corner for the game-changing handheld.

While all Pokémon games are great, they aren’t all equal however. If you had to line up those games according to said greatness, you’d probably have a list like the one I have below. Which I do. Convenient.

With mid-cycle upgrades coming to the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, has the traditional console generation cycle been turned on its head?

By the time Uncharted 4 is out, we’ll pretty much be at the halfway point of the current console life cycle. We’re not going to see a repeat of the near-decade long generation that the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 made possible, which also means that Naughty Dog will have less time to work on a new PS4 title. But at least the developer will have one more game in them, for that platform.

There are possibly way too many Pokémon, with a ton of them being beyond ridiculous in the design department. At this rate, we might wind up with something like Bang Bang.

It’s been a great ride for the Sony fat boy since it arrived in 2006, following the 2005 launch of the Xbox 360. That’s a console generation of 8 years. And the latest one could be much shorter.
