Grand Theft Auto 6 might not officially exist just yet, but it’s only a matter of time before Rockstar games lifts the lid on its incredibly lucrative franchise and gets the hype-ball rolling down the hill. Each GTA game has been a showcase of some pretty impressive technology over the years, and a new patent filed by the Take-Two Interactive, parent company of Rockstar, hints at improving the artificial intelligence within its games by a significant margin.

Rockstar is looking at releasing a “moderately sized” GTA than can be expanded upon after launch with regular updates, creating a cadence of content similar to what GTA Online currently experiences.

After an extended break beginning in the spring of 2019, Dan Houser, Vice President, Creative at Rockstar Games, will be leaving the company.

Well, that was fun while it lasted. Earlier this week, GTA Online players managed to convince themselves that a sixth instalment in Rockstar’s premiere sandbox of crime was on the way. According to reports, players got their hands on an in-game pop-up that announced GTA 6 for 2019. Yeah, that ain’t happening, as it was the work of some savvy mods within GTA Online.

If ever you needed a poster child for big budget gaming with a trio of As done right, then GTA V is the benchmark that all games wish to surpass. Only problem? It’s looking highly likely that GTA V’s position as a $6 billion highest selling form of entertainment will ever be toppled. Not even by GTA itself or even the old west in the form of Red Dead Redemption 2.

2018 sees Rockstar head back west with Red Dead Redemption 2, but what’s happening with their ultimate franchise? Is Grand Theft Auto VI a mere pipe dream, or is development on it proceeding at a swift pace behind closed doors? According to one wild rumour, yes it is. Speaking to The Know, one anonymous source claimed to have an inside scoop on the going-ons of GTA VI.

Don't expect to see a sequel for GTA V anytime soon. Rockstar has plenty of ideas for the current game to try out first.
