Prepare for the pirates to throw themselves overboard in distress. The PC release of Grand Theft Auto IV will utilize the oft-criticized SecuROM copy protection, publisher Rockstar has confirmed, though some controversial SecuROM features, such as install limits, will not be utilized. GTA DLC: No new locations?

By Nick De Bruyne

GTALostandDamned.jpg So we have finally received n ews on the GTA IV DLC that is on it's way and it looks like Rockstar have taken quite an interesting approach to how they have chosen to handle it. This is mainly because in the DLC you will no longer play as Niko Bellic, the usual hero of GTA IV. Nope, this time around you will thrown into the life of Johnny Klebitz, a member of the Lost biker gang that Niko runs into a couple of times in the original storyline. The question I want to raise is... what about the new cities or locations that everyone was harping on about a while ago? The new DLC will still take place in Liberty City and while I find the idea of jumping into a whole different character and story within the game, a lot of people have possibly already grown tired of seeing the sights and are ready for some new ones. It may be possible that DLC that includes extra locations may still come in future but for now, whether you are Johnny or Niko, you are going to be sharing the same turf for a while to come at the very least. The new DLC titles "Lost and Damned" will be available on February 17. No pricing had been given just yet.

Exclusive: Epic takes a stab at Jack Thompson

By Nick De Bruyne

So, the other night we were playing a game of Gears of War 2 and we were all destroying each other on a map called Day One. I have taken quite a liking to the photo mode that came with the game, so after my death, I was having my usual fun taking photo's of the action. On the Day One map there is a small street corner arcade, in which I found something rather interesting. You may remember that the infamous anti-videogame lawyer Jack Thompson always referred to the Grand Theft Auto series of games as a "murder simulator". Now looking at that header image will show you that Epic decided to poke a bit of fun at that whole mess by creating an arcade game by the name of "Murder Simulator" and placing it into the map. I live easter eggs like this and I think it was really cool that Epic took the time to take a quick stab at an industry story that has caused a lot of grief for gamers worldwide. At least Jack is barred for life now, so until another lunatic comes along and tries to pick up where he left off, we can all rest easy knowing that we can play our violent games in ironic peace.

Of all the game types out there, the most difficult to review is probably racing games. There is after all only so much you can say about the game and one game is much like the other. The game was created by Rockstar, (in)famous creators of the GTA franchise. What they learned over the years whilst making GTA they …

At first I thought life was returning to normal when I saw the PS3 had once again outsold the Xbox 360 in Japan but then I saw that it had outsold it’s other competitor as well and once again things were wrong in the world. Nothing outsells the Wii, I thought that was agreed by now. The latest sales stats …

Grand Theft Auto's DLC Direction

Rockstar Games creative VP Dan Houser talked about the change with Edge Online recently, and he believes that people are largely misremembering the series of GTA III games and their tone. “We’re still figuring out what we’re going to do next, because of the downloadable content. I don’t think it’s set anything in stone, it’s just what we did with …

Rumor: GTAIV Delayed on PC because of DRM?

By Nick De Bruyne
October 30, 2008

Joystiq reports that product pages from GameStop and Amazon seem to now be displaying the release date of GTAIV for PC as December 2. Now, if you can't remember, the original release date for the game was November 18, meaning that the game is possibly looking at a two week delay. With many PC gamers dying to find out what all the fuss was about, as well as the fact that a lot of Christmas shopping will be done in November, the delay may hurt sales as well as test some PC gamer's patience. While the port does promise enhancements over the console version, you really have to wonder what could have possibly caused the delay. We reckon that there is the possibility that it could have something to do with the dreaded DRM. With so many PC sales being lost out to piracy these days, Rockstar could full well be taking some extra time to layer on a stronger copy-protection system for their game. It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest. The worst part of it all is that there is probably going to be a pirated version available on the net by November 18 anyway, which is not only sickening but also makes you wonder how much a two week delay could hurt sales.

Zero Punctuation: Saints Row 2

I had no interest in picking up Saints Row 2 mainly because I had heard all the claims of it being a GTA clone and my interest in GTA dropped off entirely when the game lost my save game progress. I am sure I did something wrong but I am a seriously lazygamer and if I have to think about …
