By now, anyone interested in the local esports scene would have heard the story surrounding Orena and Electronic Sports World Cup (ESWC). Earlier this month ESWC announced its African qualifiers for its CSGO tournament and South Africa was a noticeable omission to the lineup. Which is just the tip of the iceberg of this particular story.
Orena Director Luca Tucconi has admitted that no agreements or contracts with ESWC were in place for the South African ESWC qualifiers.

Sorry, Orena - You don’t get to take away cash prizes after the fact and then act as if everything is dandy. I also strongly believe that those in the scene should stand up and speak out against this behaviour.
