Developer Ndemic Creations may not have intended to create one of the most controversial games of all time years in advance (Plague Inc. is currently banned in China, along with Winnie the Pooh references), but the studio is striking while the iron is hot as they’ll be introducing a new mode to the game that is designed to reverse the goals of the original virus-spreading contagion simulation.

Gee, I wonder why?

Of course people are buying it and unleashing their own Coronavirus pandemic, while also using the results for their studies of how a virus could spread beyond borders. Ndemic Creations may be chuffed with the sales, but they’re also warning people that it shouldn’t be taken as the gospel for learning about unstoppable diseases.

Plague Inc.’s setup is simple enough: You’ve got a pathogen to unleash on the world, a virus which you can mutate to become the next plague that has the potential to reduce the planet’s human population to zero as you augment it to become more resistant to anti-biotics, hard borders and natural immunities. Now, Plague Inc. is about to add its most devastating tool yet to its arsenal: Anti-vaxxers.

The Ndemic Creations game will soon feature a multiplayer mode, that will see rivals compete to kill the planet the quickest with their own strain of virulent death.

It’s been good business for cult hit game Plague Inc., which has seen sales soar as of late thanks to the Ebola outbreak.
