There used to be a time when Pokémon's star mascot Pikachu was a far more…rounded icon. Chubby cheeks, a big belly and easily confused for a beach ball, Pikachu eventually dropped some weight over the years and took on a more slim profile. There’s a new Pokémon stream kicking at 3PM CET today, but you know what? I ain’t waiting. For more than two decades now, Farfetch’d has been nothing more than a notch in a pokedex that merely exists to be marked, an occasionally a homicidal duck who almost bludgeoned Ash to death with a leek once. In Pokémon Sword and Shield, one of the OG pocket monsters of the classic era of being superior like certain people never were before you, is finally getting some much needed love when players head to the Galar region.

A spooky European village. Properly scary castle mania. Vampires. Werewolves! The only thing more frightening, is a glimpse at your empty bank account when it comes to deciding whether or not you can grab Resident Evil Village this month. Capcom's successor to its long-running survival-horror franchise is finally out, and if you've read our review then you know the game is a winner on multiple levels.
