There’s a next-gen pissing war to be had, but it’s not going to be about which console has the better graphics this time. We;; not today at least. Instead I’ve got a feeling that we’re headed into F1 territory: Measuring just how much faster the Xbox Series X/S is at loading a game when compared to the PlayStation 5 and vice versa.

This isn’t just a case of slapping a solid-state drive into a PS5 and calling it a day, but rather fine-tuning that hardware to squeeze every drop of speed possible out of it and to do so with a foundation of software architecture that would give a mathematician a boner if he ever set eyes on the numbers behind it.

Solid State Drives will drive the next generation forward, allowing for more complex and resource-heavy games to load quicker than the signal your butt sends to your butt when you realise that that fart you just let rip wasn’t gaseous in nature.
