By Gavin Mannion

Is it finally going to arrive? PlayStation Home has been just around the corner for quite some time now but is the long wait nearly over? The rumours is that we can expect Home to land alongside Firmware 2.50 in October 2008. I know I am opening myself up for yet more flaming now but I am going to say …

PS3 Video DRM also draconian?

By Gavin Mannion

A lot has been said about the draconian DRM embedded in Spore at the moment but EA games are far from being the only company to try to thwart piracy. It seems that the movies you download from the PSN have a similar feature. The rentals are able to be kept for 24 hours which I think is perfectly fair …

Did you know the PlayStation 3 has only just been released in Malaysia? and we complain about us being treated badly… Oh and it looks like Nintendo thought that Sony needed some help with the launch and very kindly leant them the soundtrack from The Legend of Zelda. Now that’s just embarrassing and you can bet the events company is …

By Gavin Mannion

So with the mass markets eyes slowly shifting towards Christmas the next big question obviously becomes “which console is going to take this season?” The Yahoo PlayBack slot has tackled this question this week and it is little suprise that once again the Nintendo Wii is the pre-season favourite. However what is suprising is how badly Yahoo thinks of the …

Piracy Tolerance Could Give Your Company an Upper Hand

By BrettC

Let me start this off by stating that I DON’T support piracy in any way, all my games, software and music are bought legitimately and it is going to stay that way. I don’t think there is any justification for piracy nor do I think that it is good for any of the industries affected by it. This is just …

Life with Playstation Now Available

By BrettC

Yesterday some people managed to get hold of Life with Playstation. I sat down and tried for over an hour to get Folding Home to update to Life with Playstation but had no luck. It was later revealed by Sony that it was a mistake and that it shouldn’t have gone up. I wondered if that meant that the official launch of Life with Playstation was just around the corner. Well a day later, it is here and it has been released simultaneously worldwide. For those of you who aren’t familiar with "Life with Playstation", it is a new lifestyle service that gives PS3 owners a new way to access news and information from around the world. The update comes in at 126mb and is slightly slow because everybody is currently downloading it simultaneously. I have sat and played around with it and I must say that it is looking brilliant. News has never fascinated me like this before. The visuals and sounds are amazing and I like that you can play music while browsing the news of the world. It is very quick and smooth and I had no issues with the long load times. Life with Playstation has really turned out well and Sony definitely deserves congratulations on this one.

GTA IV DLC still on track for Spring

By Nick De Bruyne

As if the entire world was holding it's breath in anticipation of the news, Microsoft has now officially confirmed that the GTA IV DLC will be releasing in Autumn (Spring here in SA) and will then obviously be ready before Christmas. Microsoft are also happy to boast that the DLC is exclusive to the Xbox 360, just in case any PS3 owners missed it the first time around. Details of the DLC have still not been released and even though Rockstar doesn't have a habit of disappointing us, GTA IV's popularity has died down quite a bit as of late so the DLC will be a great way to get people to put their discs back in. Whether or not those same people are interested enough to jump back into the world of GTA one more time is another story. On a side note, I'm entirely convinced that this DLC will remain an Xbox 306 exclusive, so watch out for announcements about PS3 DLC shortly after. It may never come, but we can only hope. We will post more details when they become available.
