With new locations, new outfits and a new mentor figure, Spider-Man: Far From Home is both a Spidey sequel and an Avengers: Endgame epilogue. You know you’re going to watch it regardless of our review, but you can read our spoiler-free thoughts all the same, right here.
Sony may have long-term plans to create a Spider-Man Cinematic Universe of their own, but first they want each of their planned spin-off movies to stand on their own.
Basically a red onesie with a hoodie on top of it, the Scarlet Spider was budget Spider-Man at its worst during the Clone Saga that everyone wishes that they could forget about. It just didn’t work on the printed page but fast forward a few years later and the costume kind of worked in video game form. Insomniac took the classic edgy idea, added some sweet new textures to it and there you had it: A Scarlet Spider costume which didn’t look like it made out of donated clothing. Hot Toys has taken that idea and run even wilder with it.
Sony has plans on eventually overlapping their Spider-Man Universe with the broader MCU Universe.
The previous two Deadpool films have been master classes in creative cursing, while also containing some of the gnarliest violence around. How do you take a character like that, and slap him with a more demographically friendly age rating that allows for younger fans to appreciate his unique slice of entertainment? Disney has a few ideas.
