Shadow Complex Cheaters Targeted

By Geoffrey Tim

Shadow Complex, the Metroid-inspired 2.5D action adventure is a great game. The exploration-heavy Unreal Engine powered downloadable game has been one of my favourites this year. Pity that the leaderboards are filled with cheaters who’ve figured out a way to exploit the game’s code to their own nefarious cheating ways. Developers Chair Entertainment and Microsoft aren’t taking too kindly to …

The video guru’s over at TheLensOfTruth have figured out that people love comparisons and have gotten around to upgrading their server hardware to handle the user load for their latest comparison posting. This week we find Batman stuck under the lens and I have to admit that I am surprised by the results. Last Updated: August 25, 2009

We posted last week that the Batman Arkham Asylum demo had hit the Axbox Arcade and PSN and that it weighed in at a whopping 2Gb (or 1.6Gb on the PSN). Over the weekend I downloaded the demo and gave it a run for its money and first impressions are that this game is graphically stunning. The cut scenes in …

The much anticipated Gears of War 2 update landed last week and I finally got around to downloading it on the weekend and giving it a run. Personally the most important thing I was looking for was whether or not the matchmaking had been fixed yet and if the lag issues had been resolved. I couldn’t care less about the …

We saw some screenshots earlier of the new CryEngine’s output but that wasn’t the only engine unveiled at GDC this year. Epic have shown off their latest version of the famous Unreal Engine and while I don’t get most of it, it does make the development of awesome 3D games look pretty easy. I really wish I could do this …

Epic have announced that they will be showcasing the new Unreal Engine 3 at GDC this year. The last time Epic showcased their engine we got a close look in at the upcoming Gears of War 2 and as such we are expecting some awesome insight into the upcoming Gears of War 3 super engine… Though I have to admit …

Gears of War vs Gears of War 2 – Graphic Comparison

By Nick De Bruyne

Whilst browsing around the gametrailers.com website, I happened to find a neat little video in the user uploads section of a graphics comparison between Gears of War 1 and Gears of War 2. While it is initially difficult to see the major differences between the two games, you will find that a short while later it becomes heavily apparent that the upgrade to the Unreal 3 engine has really spruced the games visuals quite nicely. The original Gears of War already had some very impressive graphics to start with, so the fact the Epic was able to actually make it look even better whilst keeping the framerate the same or even better is quite a feat in itself. Well, it's only a short while now until we all get to see for ourselves, so let the excitement begin. I hate all of the people that have already got a copy, only because I am not one of them.
