What is the grand plan of a god who can and has seen all possible outcomes of his actions? That’s the question that Doomsday Clock will hopefully answer when Doctor Manhattan finally makes his presence known.

Mr Oz is his name, and global destabilisation is his game. For months now, Mr Oz has been targeting Superman, his family and his ideals. The hooded antagonist has been working behind the scenes, causing chaos in an attempt to prove to Superman that humanity isn’t worth protecting. It’s…it’s not hard to argue that fact really.

Once considered by many in Hollywood to be unfilmable, seminal comic book tale Watchmen will now be getting its second screen adaptation. This time in TV series format from Damon Lindelof and HBO.

A forging of positive emotions have been the driving force behind DC Comics ever since the Rebirth initiative kicked off in 2016. It’s that brighter mindset which will soon find itself challenged in a new DC Comics mini-series out later this year that looks like it’ll reintroduce the Watchmen to that universe while co-creator Alan Moore screams into the abyss, called “Doomsday Clock”.

It’s hard to believe that DC’s Rebirth initiative is going to celebrate its first birthday next month. DC promised a soft reboot that would restore its heroes back to their tonal values, a move that so far has resulted in changes both big and small. Superman is now more original than ever before because of really weird reasons, Wonder Woman’s origins are finally becoming clearer and Batman is actually a force of hope. Weird, but good, times. DC also promised an angle that the entire Rebirth event would be built around: Alan Moore and Dave Gibbon’s cult classic comic book series Watchmen. How do the gritty heroes of that world fit into the DC universe? That’s the mystery that began unfolding in Batman #21 this week

The Flash will soon meet up with Jay Garrick as the two pursue Eobard Thawne and his memories of the universe before the Flashpoint Paradox occurred, as well as a certain darker knight. That’d be Thomas Wayne, who donned the cape and cowl of the Batman when the Flashpoint universe saw Bruce Wayne die that night in Crime Alley, a death that split the Waynes apart and fractured both of their minds. Two Batmen, who have a mystery to solve in the wake of DC Rebirth.

Batman is preparing for the worst. Facing not only an upcoming battle against the Watchmen but also Lady Shiva and the League of Shadows, Batman has begun assembling an army of his own. Only these soldiers are somewhat broken.

DC Rebirth may have created a more hopeful and optimistic future, but there's still a mystery to be solved in 2017.
