Destiny 2 is planning a major PvP overhaul once New Light and Shadowkeep launches

By Darryn Bonthuys

The Destiny 2 multiplayer suite of PvP activity should be a highlight of the product that will create a foundation for the sequel once it goes free to play…right? Not exactly, because ever since it first launched in 2017, Destiny 2’s PvP has not been in a healthy shape. It’s not that it isn’t fun from time to time, but it seldom reaches the highs of Destiny 1’s amazing multiplayer. Time to change all that, as Bungie has some big plans for the future of its multiplayer mode.

In the last couple of months, video game publishers have been hammered with controversy over the use of those poop boxes (I am totes mature). Faced with a mounting backlash and a riot from fans after the Battlefront 2 straw that broke the camel’s back in 2017, EA has begun to roll back on using that extra dash for cash within a select few games, with Need for Speed Heat joining the list.

There are still those who are willing to get up at the crack of dusk and boot up their console to find him for you. People who’ll risk digital life and limb to let you know if Xur is selling a treasure or rubbish. I just so happen to be one of those people. Maybe you’re stuck at work and can only log in later tonight. In that case: Where is Xur?

Unlike E3’s gauntlet of livestreamed events which play out over several unrelenting days at the ungodliest of hours for anyone East of the ol’ GMT timezone, Gamescom is a more focused affair. This year will see three of the big names in gaming take to the stage with plenty of studios spread between them: Microsoft with their Inside Xbox event, Google will host another direct spot of streaming focused on Stadia and Geoff Keighley will host the Gamescom Opening Night festivities.

While Wyatt will be available as a pre-order bonus, there’ll also be two more versions of his persona with “Bump in the Night”, which will roll out of a regular retail price submission and strike back with a DLC RKO from outta nowhere that includes a new 2K Showcase event between Wyatt and Balor, new arenas, move-sets and parts for those of you who also like to cobble together superstars in the creation mode suite.

Season 10 of Fortnite began with the unveiling of the B.R.U.T.E, and its addition has been controversial to say the least. Some Fortnite players love it because its wonderfully silly, others hate it the B.R.U.T.E because it can provide an overwhelming advantage especially in competitive play. So what’s the point of these mechs? To give some players a leg up in competition, according to Epic.

These days, getting your voice out to the masses is a walk in the park thanks to the virtual soapbox that streaming and video platforms provide. In Borderlands 3, that idea of establishing a viral following of loonies and psychopaths is being turned up to 11, as players won’t be facing a handsome corporate CEO but rather the tag team of murder streamers known as the Calypso Twins.
