The Delta 6 realistic gun peripheral is ridiculous

We here at Lazygamer have always had a soft spot for some of the more ludicrous and pointless peripherals you’ll find for consoles (and PC!). Here’s just such a thing – though some enthusiastic gun nuts might just think it’s the best thing ever.

The Delta 6 is a full-size, life-like military-styled rifle for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC that its makers say will make for the most immersive shooting experience. It’s got built-in motion sensors so it knows where you’re aiming, and “replacing” the magazine reloads in-game. The thing even knows when you’re aiming down the site, to zoom in for sniping and such.

According to it’s makers, you’ll get “the realistic, immersive experience that gamers worldwide were craving — real kickback, premium materials, live-action motion sensing controls, triggered zoom, and more.” and because it’s so darned realistic, it has an orange tip so it can;t be confused with a real gun.

Still, it’s quite likely that this device will raise the ire of conservatives, who believe that videogames train children to be killers. honestly though, I really don’t like using these sorts of things for my games, preferring traditional controllers, and yes, even the keyboard and mouse. I am a lazy bastard.

[Thanks to mass murderer Erwin Kempff for the orange tip]

A part of me is strangely intrigued. I almost bought a paintball gun that’s styled after a FAMAS. Only the missus guided me away from the till. She’s not here now…. where can I buy this beauty?

Being hit by a battery must hurt like a bitch.
Looks like fun though. But the game gun that that redneck in America made is still cooler.

That thing will tear quite a respectable hole in you. Will the word “charge” a different meaning when used in battle.

Would you then have an assault and battery charge laid against you?

Well, showing my age here a little, but as a conscript in the townships in the 90s’ we used to get issued with 40mm “stopper guns” for crowd control, basically a single-shot grenade-launcher thing that fired rubber bullets, tear gas canisters, that kind of thing. They’re non-lethal, so there weren’t really all that tightly controlled, certainly nowhere near as much as our firearms were.

At least until some bright spark of a policeman figured out you could pop the rubber-bullet out of the ammo, & that a D9 battery fit nicely in its place. And those were anything but non-lethal.

The good news is that had a stop put to it very quickly, & access to the stopper guns – and control over the signalers’ supply of batteries – was suddenly and dramatically tightened. I even think a few guys did jail-time when they were caught doing it.

That is honestly one of the dumbest, most contrived adverts I’ve seen in a long time. The “gun” itself look like it could be pretty cool, but I *hated* the ad.
