Call of Duty Elite… I can see why we’re going to pay for this

So there has been a lot of panic recently about how we are going to have to start paying for certain online abilities in the next Call of Duty being Modern Warfare 3.

But the thing is that Infinity Ward has already confirmed that standard online multiplayer will stay free and that the charge will be for something else and now we know what that something else is.. and yes you are most probably going to pay for it.

So what is Call of Duty Elite, well if the trailer below is still available online then watch that as it’s going to explain it far better than I possibly can.

Call of Duty Elite is a social networking layer that goes over the current Call of Duty online experience and that will enable massive stat tracking, so you can see which weapon is best for which maps and why in an easy to use interaction. It will also allow you to start groups and clans or join groups and clans depending on what sort of experience you are looking for.

It will then track your friends stats and information and allow you to compare and compete against each other. It also will enable tournaments, leagues and any other sort of online experience that you can pretty much think off surrounding Call of Duty.

What’s even more awesome is that it’s entirely separate to the game and will cover Black Ops and Modern Warfare 3 on it’s release… so you can compare cross games.

I’m not sure if it’s going to go cross platform but I know I’m really looking forward to setting up a Lazygamer tournament between clans with some awesome prizes in the run up to the release of Modern Warfare 3.

Hopefully the video below is still available else I’ll update this with a new one as soon as we can.
