Harpoon yetis with Far Cry 4’s Season Pass

It’s now more rare for a game to launch without a Season Pass than with one. Sometimes the post launch content on offer justifies the extra little cash injection, as is the case with Far Cry 4. You’re getting single-player, co-op and multiplayer content, as well as a little trip into a Yeti’s den. I highly doubt he’ll be as cuddly as I hope.

Ubisoft has revealed what will be included in the Far Cry 4 season pass, extending your stay in Kyrat and its dangerous mountain passes. You’ll stop Pagan Min from acquiring a rare recipe and using it  against you and your rag-tag rebellion. You and a friend can also recreate your favourite Prison Break moments while escaping the Durgesh Prison.

But the headline content has to be the chance to go toe to toe with a clan of yetis in the higher reaches of the Himalayan mountains. Here the landscape is frozen and works against you in this chilly game of cat and frozen mythical creature. Thankfully you can bring a friend along as well, meaning you won’t die alone. Check out the full Season Pass content below:

  • The Syringe – The day-one Season Pass exclusive mission will have you preventing Pagan Min from retrieving a rare recipe and using it against the rebellion. Take on The Syringe in either single-player or co-op.
  • Escape from Durgesh Prison – Team up with a friend to escape Yuma’s prison after being locked up and tortured. Fun stuff.
  • Hurk Deluxe Pack – More harpooning. More explosions. More Hurk. More awesome. Get access to five missions starring Hurk, including Yak Farm, Blood Ruby and Hurk’s Redemption. We just love this crazy country boy so much.
  • Overrun – Play as either the Rakshasa or the Golden Path in this new PvP multiplayer mode. Capture territory around Kyrat and stop that territory from being taken by your enemies.
  • Valley of the Yetis – A crash landing on a Himalayan ridge finds Ajay fighting for his life in a strange new frozen landscape. Scavenge for tools and upgrade your campsite, while fending off deadly nighttime attacks from a mysterious cult. Explore caves in the area, but watch out for what lurks within. Valley of the Yetis has both single-player and co-op options, so it might be wise to bring a friend along to watch your back.

Note that competitive multiplayer will still be available for those of you not cashing in on the Season Pass – Overrun is just an exclusive mode that you probably wouldn’t end up playing anyway. I’m pretty intrigued by The Hurk Pack though. More missions with a harpoon loving lunatic sounds like the right brand of crazy that makes Far Cry so damn enjoyable.

Far Cry 4 is out next month on Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS4, PS3 and PC. You can pick up the Season Pass for the regular price of $29.99.

OR, wait for the inevitable full DLC purchase at a better cost, but at a later stage

All these companies like EA, THQ, UBISOFT, ACTIVISION, SQUARE ENIX, CAPCOM,

all started out like CD Projekt Red or Remedy. A small passionate studio where making a game that they would want as gamers was number one over profit.

Then they become a mega success because Humans can smell passion from a mile away. Then the money starts rolling in and before you know it they become too big and soulless in the process.

THEY, you know THEY (While eye balling to the roof as if THEY are overseeing everything from the top floor of the Mega Nasdaq gaming company become LARGE and IN-charge.

3000 people probably worked on Watch dogs. The down side with these large machines is that the SOUL becomes diluted. I remember that Board Room photo of all the EA CEOs kicking John Riccitiello out. It looked like a photo of the White House all huddled together planning world domination.

5 years from now I bet you a muffin that thanks to the success of The Wither 3, that CD Project Red will let the share holder run their company into on-line DRM X600 DLC soulless shit.

I think for CD Projekt RED to go full DRM and milk games for all the money they can get, then there has to be no more Polish people in charge at CD Projekt RED.

CD Projekt RED did try the DRM route. It didn’t work. But let’s see what happens after Cyberpunk 2077.

I’m still waiting for these other publishers to come full circle.

I have so much hope placed on The Witcher 3.
I mean, consider something simple like Meridian (an idie game made by ONE person). It’s not going to put Blizzard out of business, for sure, but if one guy can make something that good it proves the point you’re making.

I always had a soft spot for Ubisoft but recently they’ve stopped considering the value of the people bringing them their revenue. These DLC-ridden games are the reason pc gamers don’t buy on release anymore.
Same goes for FarCry 4 (which I was going to get on release until I saw all the content they’ve removed so they can sell it back to me). Now I’ll get it on sale instead.

They need to please the share holders, not the gamers.
Im old and cynicle because I grew up when this hobby was not socially accepted. It was those Indie gamers sitting in their mothers basement who made games that they would want to play as a gamer. Nice to see a game like LIMBO can still survive in this market that can only be called a GAMEPLOSION.

I remember only 5 years ago on this site, we were in shock about the stat that worldwide gaming revenue had just surpassed Music and is on the tail of film.

This hobby has become too big for its boots too fast. The oldschool marketing car salesmen are all jumping onboard this untapped industry to sell us these products thinking that we are all stupid children and that they know better.

That #dealwithit is a good example of what these oldschool companies actually think of us.

You make a really good point. We’re way more informed than most of the people trying to sell to us. We’ve been into gaming since we were children, we know the inns and outs of this.
Speaking of Limbo. Have you seen Black The Fall? I wish I had to money to back them on kickstarter. The game looks excellent.
I enjoy supporting indie companies because many of them (I know not all) are guys like us who have some good idea that they really want to see realise. We’re just either too lazy, too bad at programming or don’t have the time to do it ourselves.

It’s sad that the gaming industry is run by marketing people. People in sales. I can sell ice to an Eskimo. These people don’t know games. I’m sure they don’t even know why people buy and play games.

Looking at DRM, DLC, Season Pass, all sales people. Sales people only care about making money. Why has marketing budgets gotten so high that it equals or betters game development costs, because sales people need to get paid, not the people making games.

So let’s see what happens when the gaming industry crashes and all the sales people fuck off.

As Jim Sterling said, the old fuckers will all die one day. lol
Meaning the gamer generation who are at an average age of 35-40 will still be gaming 40 years from now. So one could say that even the President of America grew up as a gamer in the electronic age 40 years from now.

            Its still early days.

You have to blame secondhand game sales for that.

I’m a pc gamer, we don’t even have second-hand sales.
I remember back in the day when you bought a FULL game and then a year or so down the line they surprised you with an expansion that blew your mind.
Now it’s just frustrating to see what they’ve already got planned and ready, but want you to pay even more for.
