Remember back when there was supposed to be a media event on April 24 (by Jove, that’s today!) to unveil the next generation Xbox, and then that super secret event was reportedly moved to May? Well, that rumour is now pretty much truth – because Microsoft will be unveiling the new Xbox on May 21.
The presentation is to be held in Redmond to a small group, but will also be streamed live on Xbox.com, Xbox Live, and Spike TV in the US and Canada – where you’ll be able to find out everything you need to know about the next console from the folks at Microsoft. And honestly? It’s about time. Sony revealed details of its impending PlayStation 4 back in February, and has garnered much favour from gamers as a result. Microsoft’s silence regarding its own console – and the persistent rumours of a necessary perpetual internet connection – hasn’t exactly helped quell the tide of gamers threatening to jump ship.
It’s rumoured to be ditching the PowerPC setup of the current Xbox for a more traditional, very PC-like x86 architecture. Reportedly packing 8Gb of DDR3 RAM, it may also ship with stripped sown XBOX 360 for backwards compatibility, and a little extra processing power. Much like Sony’s Playstation4, it will essentially be a PC.
“On Tuesday May 21st, we’ll mark the beginning of a new generation of games, TV and entertainment. On that day, we’ll be holding a special press event on the Xbox campus and we invite you to join us via the live global stream that will be available on Xbox.com, Xbox LIVE and broadcast on Spike TV if you are in the US or Canada,” says Major Nelson.
“On that day, we’ll share our vision for Xbox, and give you a real taste of the future. Then, 19-days later at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles, we’ll continue the conversation and showcase our full lineup of blockbuster games.”
We’ll find out on May 21, I guess.

My prediction:
Pitbull opens for the conference, blahblahblah casual *****, they talk about vague things that is obviously filler, 720 is hinted at, it’s finally unveiled. Always online, Kinect mandatory, not much more powerful than Wii-U, XBL Gold still required to play online. Live demonstration where it crashes due to the internet connection being interrupted Trailer reel of all 5 launch games but the trailer is interrupted to tell them they need a license to continue viewing since Kinect detects more than 4 people in the room.

I acknowledged the fact about their status. That’s why I said they would bounce back. I’m not trolling either and the sarcasm was a jab at the online service XBOX users have to deal with. Sony is sinking that’s why they rethought their whole model. The PS+ service is a godsend along with the free games they give away, free online play is unthinkable but there it is. They even partnered with Blizzard and who knows what that can mean for Sony. But I admit that if the XBOX is better than the PS in this next generation I will have no choice but to switch over.

eg. Uncharted, G.O.W ect.

I don’t think they are catering for the family market. I think they are trying to open a new market all together, with all this Kinect and placing food orders, watching movies and series on it… They really want an all encompassing box that can do it all…
But I don’t want that, I want a box that can play good games!! I am a gamer, I have owned 3 Xbox 360’s and would like to think that if it wasn’t for me and people like me they would not be where they are today as a gaming giant. But then why not look after me and my ilk first and then make a separate box for the lazy dude who doesn’t want to phone for a pizza???? He who caters for me, the gamer, he will get my money!!

Hey Fox, have you been hacked by FoxHoundR????? Firstly I own both a PS3 and Xbox 360, I play Fifa on my Xbox and pretty much all other games on my PS3… I don’t prefer one over the other!! I really think that gaming wise they are so close it doesn’t even matter on what system I play what game… Xbox has the nicest fitting remote and decent triggers, that is the only reason I prefer playing Fifa on it….
What I said above which you clearly have missed is that the next gen who looks after me and my games, is the one that I will buy!! And not in the first year, probably not in the first 5 years until there is a slimline version!! Because graphics doesn’t make a game, the gameplay and story makes a game!!!!!!!! I game on 3 platforms including PC and as a fact, this generation has become so long in the tooth that exclusives are shaking the ground anymore. The PS4 is not going to bring class leading graphics like the PS3 did. I don’t know what graphics M$ will be bringing with the NextBox but in the past, consoles biggest selling points were the uber graphics for a fraction of the cost.

I am more than happy with my 360 and I am not making the same mistake twice. I am going to wait it out until the SLIM version is out like I should have done this generation instead of do quality assurance for Microsoft and piss about with RROD.
All the good games have 5 years in development anyway.
Now bring out your new console already so the price of the 360 can be halved.

I think Xbox will be very similar to the PS4 in specs, to make it easier for developers.
Thus it will come down to the software running the consoles which will determine the victor. Xbox “should” win this as they have been purchasing alot of the marketplace “Skype, etc” and if implemented correctly should beat the PS. Also if the backwards compatibility is true for the Xbox, this would mean your investment in the Xbox marketplace was something worthwhile and a true investment, unlike the PS store.
But I guess anything could happen

The people are not following the unwritten LG forum code, soemthing I picked up over the last couple of months:
1. Your allowed to make your fanboy statement and 2 counter replies
2. You get bonus reply if you can add a FUNNY meme pic (anything insulting marketing, EA and Geoff’s beard gets bonus points)
