It's yipee ki-yay mother Russia in this international trailer and poster for A GOOD DAY TO DIE HARD

Mother Russia!? Oh ho ho, how utterly puntastic!

After the symphony of explosions that was the first trailer for A Good Die To Die Hard we now get this brand new international trailer which is… well, actually it’s still a symphony of explosions, but at least now you’re starting to get an idea for why there appear to be so many volatile buildings and cars in Moscow.

Plus, Mary Elizabeth Winstead returns! It’s a whole McClane family shindig!

Since the first “Die Hard” in 1988, John McClane has found himself in the wrong place at the wrong time, with the skills and attitude to always be the last man standing, making him enemy #1 for terrorists the world over. Now, McClane faces his greatest challenge ever, this time on an international stage, when his estranged son Jack is caught up in the daring prison escape of a rogue Russian leader, and father and son McClane must work together to keep each other alive and keep the world safe for democracy.

So it looks like Winstead’s Lucy McClane is merely in the film to drop her dad off at the airport. So guys, if you’re looking to use her as a bargaining chop to convince.your ladies that you should go see Die Hard 5 on Valentine’s Day, just be prepared for the inevitable backlash.

But while Ms Winstead appears to just be paying the bills in this one, we do however get to see quite a bit more of the other McClane sibling, Jack, played by rapidly rising star Jai Courtney, and exactly how he and his geographically and chronologically jinxed dad meet up.

The film certainly doesn’t appear to skimp on the action, and from what I can see in the trailer this looks like it could be a return to form. Unfortunately, there is still that giant elephant in the room, in the form of director John Moore filmography. If you may recall, his Max Payne had some phenomenal looking trailers but the full movie ended up stinking worse than a skunk working in a cheese factory. So yeah, make of that what you will.

One thing I will say about this trailer though, we once again get to see that biker girl in the full leather outfit getting undressed, which is something you’ll never hear me complain about.

Well, that’s gonna be a 3 star movie. It looks better than the 4th one, but still, it will only be serviceable.

Problem is, John McClane, the John McClane that only John McTiernan seemed to understand was a guy who got panicked, got scared, got the living spit beat out of hum and was bloodied and bruised come the end, but still managed to pull it together to beat the bad guy.

Without McTiernan to steer things right, no-one, not even Willis seems to understand what makes McClane work and what makes him appealing to audiences. It’s not that fact that he can make a quip and blow things up.

It’s that fact that he gets scared and still takes care of business.

Maybe this film will get that, but I really really doubt it
