Twilight Author Stephenie Meyer hints at new films being made, the world ends shortly afterwards

With Twilight Breaking Dawn Part 2 out soon, I’ll be arming myself with all manner of weapons, as the last time that I sneered at the films in public, I was almost torn apart by a coalition of Team Jacob and Team Edward fangirls. Man, those tween nails were sharp.

It’s pretty much clear that the franchise has been a license to print money, with Breaking Dawn managing to make over $700 million worldwide in 2011. Fortunately, the upcoming sequel is the final film in the franchise. Right? C’mon, please tell me that’s the end of the paedophile vampire saga, please?

Nope! Author Stephanie Meyer is evidently not yet ready to throw in the towel on the franchise. Seeing as the conclusion of her current line of books leaves ample room for a new generation of Twilight characters to appear, led by the child of Bella and Edward, Renesmee (Seriously? What’s with that name?).

“I even planned out where it would go for a couple more books, Meyer said. “So I know exactly what would happen, I mean there are a lot of characters I think would have a voice in those other stories. I don’t know, maybe I’ll write it out someday for myself.”

At the same time, producer Wyck Godfrey joked that “we keep sending her the George Lucas press releases,” which would suggest that Meyer could let someone else handle the direction of Twilight in the future.

Which isn’t a bad idea, because letting Michael Bay take over and direct a film would be the only way to get me inside a cinema to watch one, as every vampire in existence would spontaneously baysplode into a puff of 3D fires and racist stereotypes under his eye.

Which is still better, in my opinion. Twilight Breaking Dawn Part 2 is out next

  1. Hahah! You sir, have made my day “baysplode into a puff of 3D fires and racist stereotypes under his eye”. Baysplode should now be an official term!
