Vaya con Dios, Brah! The POINT BREAK remake finds a director

Little hand says that its time to rock ‘n roll! 100% pure adrenaline! Fear causes hesitation, and hesitation will cause your worst fears to come true! If none of that sounds familiar, then don’t fret. I haven’t made an EXTREME GoPro video with those pearls of wisdom.

Rather, they’re quotes from that classic gem of a film Point Break. It’s a movie that still holds up well today, as it took then infant extreme sports craze, and spun a great crime caper around it. Truly a great, and iconic movie. Time to remake the hell out of it then.

Ericson “Invincible” Core is apparently the man for the job, as he’ll be helming the remake of the 1991 flick that starred Patrick Swayze and Whoanu Keanu Reeves for Alcon Entertainment. The extreme remake will still have that alternative sports vibe to it alongside the FBI sting operation plot, but any other details are being kept locked up right now.

I’m not actually too against this remake being made. Extreme sports has really taken off in the last decade, and I’d like to see a movie making oh hell I’m lying out of my teeth right now. Chances are, we’re going to get a movie that is cheesier than the original but without any of the charm, and one too many GoPro helmet shots inserted into the cinematography.

Which would be a damn shame if it happens, seeing as how Core knew how to frame a scene thanks to his work on The Fast and the Furious. A screenplay has already being written, funds secured and filming kicks off at the end of the year, with Warner Bros releasing the movie.

Peace, through superior reboot power.

I really don’t think so. I don’t see how they need to bring the story into the modern age, also as I mentioned before, the actual plot concept gets constantly done over and over again anyways, so its actually already been done, and its not like Surfing is really ‘in’ again, so I kinda don’t get this one.

True man. So what extreme sport is hip and happening these days?

Also, possible cameo for Keanu? Though he was my lowlight in Point Break 😛

It’s not the go pro helmet shots that worry me…it’s the unrealistic CGI that they might try to force into the movie, showing unbelievable stunts.

Well I loved Point Break when it was released, soulful surfing scenes, great casting and utterly entertaining. Not interested in a reboot.
