Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo? Why right here, here and here! Hollywood loves a great romance story, and until Nicholas Sparks decides to rewrite a Shakespeare classic while insisting that his two attractive leads snogging it out in the rain are not in a romance film, we’ll have to settle for the latest telling of the classic love story. Spoiler: They both die. That’ll teach ya for falling asleep during English lessons in matric!

It’s been a couple of years since director Baz Lurhman got Generation X teens all aflutter over Leonardo DiCaprio in his take on the romance genre. Here’s a trailer for the latest adaptation then.

Hailee Stanfield is certainly an in-demand actress at the moment. Starting out strong in 2010’s True Grit, she’s currently got other projects lined up that includes Ender’s Game,  Can a Song Save Your Life, and Three Days to Kill. And yet, alongside her Romeo, Douglas Booth, the performances feel kind of flat when compared to supporting actors Paul Giamatti, Damien Lewis and Ed Westwick.

Still, you’re most likely going to score some major brownie points if you take your significant other to go watch this, so damn you Hollywood. Romeo and Juliet is out in July and also stars Natascha McElhone, Lesley Manville, Tomas Arana, Laura Morante, Kodi Smit-McPhee and Stellan Skarsgard. Carlo Carlei directs.
