Quentin Tarantino's HATEFUL EIGHT is back on with a cast and start date

Coming off the massive success of Django Unchained, everybody was eagerly looking forward to Quentin Tarantino’s next western, The Hateful Eight, a potboiler of a tale about a diverse group of individuals – including bandits, bounty hunters, a Southern general and more – who are all forced to hole up together in haberdashery during a blizzard. Unfortunately, Tarantino unceremoniously shelved it earlier in the year after the agent of one of the select few actors that he had given a copy of the script to, leaked the draft online for all to see. There was much anger, feelings of betrayal, and even a lawsuit or two.

Since then, Tarantino’s rage has subsided quite a bit, with him warming up to the idea of penning a new draft and even getting together all the folks he was thinking of casting in the movie for a very well received live reading of the leaked script. Did I say warming up? I meant ready to get cooking!

Showbiz 411 is reporting that Tarantino is now locked to make The Hateful Eight his next feature, with the director even looking to get cameras rolling as early as November of this year. What’s more, he will be using the exact same group of actors used in the live reading. According to The Playlist (who attended the live reading), that would mean that we would get to see “Samuel L. Jackson as Major Marquis Warren, Kurt Russell as the cruel bounty hunter John Ruth, Tim Roth as the English “bit of a fop” Oswaldo Mobray, Amber Tamblyn as Daisy Domergue, Walton Goggins as Chris Mannix, Michael Madsen as John Gage, Bruce Dern as Confederate Gen. Smithers, James Parks as stagecoach driver O.B., Denis Menochet as the Frenchman Bob, Dana Gourrier as Minnie, Zoe Bell as Six Horse Judy and James Remar as Jody”.

Yes, those may be a lot of Tarantino’s usual suspects, but there’s no denying that that’s one hell of cast, and based on feedback from the live reading, they are going to be pulling off a cracker of a tale, all about “mistrust, coffee and violence”.
