See Chris Evans' directorial debut in this trailer for BEFORE WE GO

Current Captain America, Chris Evans, has made no secret of the fact that he’d like to spend more time behind the camera in the future than in front of it – and Before We Go, in which he stars alongside Alice Eve (Star Trek Into Darkness), marks his directorial debut in what looks to be a fairly safe, small-scale, romantic comedy of two strangers connecting with each other.

The official plot synopsis is as follows:

A woman [Brooke Dalton – Alice Eve] misses the 1:30 train from New York to Boston and a street musician [Nick Vaughan – Chris Evans] spends the night trying to help her make it back home before her husband does. Throughout the night they learn a lot about one another and eventually find a romance.

If I wasn’t a cynical bastard with the romantic sense of a half-brick I’d say that looks like a perfectly light date-night movie, and was I the only one who inserted the 24 countdown sound when they showed the time?

If I had to venture a guess I’d say the two won’t have a perfect happy ending where together ride the train into the sunrise, but they’ll head off to their separate lives all the better for meeting each other.
