There are many people who find Superman a bit… bland, due to how overpowered he can be. And that can be true, especially when writers keep pitting him against Lex Luthor’s real estate schemes. But when the Big Blue Boy Scout faces enemies who really push him to the limit, to the point where he starts screaming at people like Darryn at the Post Office, that’s when he’s at his most exciting best.

And according to this new TV spot, that’s exactly what we’re going to get in Man of Steel. Well at least the shouting part.

In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time. Clark Kent/Kal-El (Cavill) is a young twentysomething journalist who feels alienated by powers beyond anyone’s imagination. Transported to Earth years ago from Krypton, an advanced alien planet, Clark struggles with the ultimate question – Why am I here? Shaped by the values of his adoptive parents Martha (Lane) and Jonathan Kent (Costner), Clark soon discovers that having super abilities means making very difficult decisions. But when the world needs stability the most, it comes under attack. Will his abilities be used to maintain peace or ultimately used to divide and conquer? Clark must become the hero known as “Superman,” not only to shine as the world’s last beacon of hope but to protect the ones he loves.

For somebody who’s faster than a speeding bullet, Man of Steel sure is taking it’s time getting here. Well, maybe it just feels that way since I have been spending my days super-slobbering over every frame since it was first announced. Luckily, it’s not much longer to wait now as Man of Steel will be leaping tall cinemas in a single bound on June 14, 2013.
