You may have read something on our site a while ago about the upcoming big screen to small screen adaptation of the 1995 sci-fi flick 12 Monkeys, something that has me foaming at the mouth! Well, the SyFy production is now offering 9 minutes of the first episode to whet your appetites! And I must say it has me very intrigued. It manages to encapsulate much of the story so you won’t be left wondering what the premise is, not that you should be because of course you have already seen the AWESOME Terry Gilliam directed 12 Monkeys movie, right? RIGHT?!

The series is set to premier on 16 January and follows Aaron Stanford as Cole (Bruce Willis’ original role), a time traveller from 2043 trying to solve the mystery of the 12 Monkeys group and how they created a virus that wipes out most of humanity (a win in my books but apparently not in others). Helping Cole and his slowly messed up time-travel mind is Dr. Cassandra Railly (Amanda Schull takes over the original role of Madeleine Stowe) and a lunatic called Jennifer Goines (Emily Hampshire), a female version of the character originally played by Brad Pitt, and for which he was nominated for an Oscar.

I really hope the show does well as it has a lot of solid content that could be played out for a season or three.

12 Monkeys also stars Kirk Acevedo, Barbara Sukowa, Noah Bean and Tom Noonan.
