I know that there are people out there who don’t like Woody Allen movies, just like I also know that there are people out there who don’t like jelly custard. And no, I don’t understand either of them.
The neurotic characters, the charming babble of dialogue and the comedy that borders on tragedy; these are the trademarks of a Allen movie that I love it. And they all seem to be on display in his latest endeavour, the dramedy Blue Jasmine.
“Blue Jasmine” is the story of the final stages of an acute crisis and a life of a fashionable New York housewife.
While the very cheery music would indicate otherwise, the tone seems to be a lot darker than Allen’s normal work. Cate Blanchett seems to be in top form delving into that dark material though, and the same can be said for Sally Hawkins as her character’s sister. And I must admit, it’s going to take a lot for me not see Bobby Carnavale and instantly associate him with his Boardwalk Empire character of Gyp Rosetti. This feeling is immediately followed by the intense desire to want to kick him in the skull.
Blue Jasmine has a limited release date of July 26, 2013.

I hang my head in shame. This is what happens when you type up articles at 4 in the morning while watch E3 conferences at the same time.
