The OA is the upcoming mystery/drama series from Netflix that’s snuck up on me from out of nowhere. It’s going live on the streaming service this Friday and stars Brit Marling as a young woman reunited with her family after disappearing many years earlier, but it seems there’s far more to that disappearance than meets the eye.
The official, and cryptic, plot synopsis is as follows:
From Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij, the visionary filmmakers behind Sound of My Voice and The East, comes a powerful, mind-bending tale about identity, human connection and the borders between life and death.
Well colour me intrigued. I don’t know what I was watching or what was really going on, but I do know that’s exactly what I want from a mystery series – and that I’m quite keen to see what this is all about now.
What do you think?
The OA‘s 8-episode-long first season is due to go live on Netflix on 16 December. It stars Brit Marling, Ian Alexander, Will Brill, Emory Cohen, Patrick Gibson, Brendan Meyer, Brandon Perea and Scott Wilson.
