No matter how old you are, you know who the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are. Whether it be the original comics, the old films that introduced a roided-up Shredder or even the rather superb new animated series on Nickelodeon, there’s a Turtle incarnation for everybody.

The heroes in a half-shell hit the big screen next year, and we still have no idea what they look, or just how much of a walking Gillette blade advert that the Shredder shall be. Until today that is.

Comic Book movie got their hands on the following images, of pre-production models of the Ninja Turtles. And you know what? I dig ’em. Those designs look pretty badass to me, and I can’t wait to see them when they’re actually properly animated. That, and I’m certain that instead of shouting Cowabunga, Michelangelo is going to have a new catch-phrase that goes “DO YOU EVEN KLAP BRU?”.

There’s a ton of character in those designs, and Shredder looks so ridiculously over the top, that the suit works. Honestly, would you want to be on the receiving end of the entire European supply of mach-3 blades?  Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is crawling out of the sewers this August, and is directed by Jonathan Liebesman.

  1. Man this excites me in a warm, fuzzy way! Awesome looking, was worried the whole ‘edgier’ may put me off but nope, not at all!

All I see is Jacob Zuma when I look at them. He’s ruined the turtles forever #sadpanda
