You already know what Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and Aquaman look like in the upcoming Batman V Superman: Drawn To Custard. But those are heroes. Sworn protectors of truth, justice and massive collateral damage! While Batman may be getting ready to slug it out with the Man Of Steel, you can bet that there’ll be a true menace lurking in the background. A savvy manipulator, a genius with an ego. This sounds like a job for Lex Luthor! And here’s your first look at Jesse Eisenberg as the classic villain, via EW:
Man, it’s amazing how different a shaved head can make you look. That’s a young, determined and ruthless looking Lex Luthor right there, the spitting image of his comic book appearance. Here’s what director Zack Snyder had to say about Eisenberg’s incarnation of the character:
“He’s not any of the Lexes that you’ve seen, that’s for sure, other than him being a captain of industry and one person to the world and another person to himself. And bald, of course. Our Lex is disarming and he’s not fake. He says what he believes and he says what’s on his mind. If you can unravel the string and decipher what he means, it’s all there.”
I believe that. If we’ve got a Lex Luthor that is moving away from the tepid real estate scams of previous Superman movies, then we might finally have a foe worthy of Superman ever since Clancy Brown voiced his animated counterpart. Badass Digest also detailed how this film would differ from Frank Miller’s iconic comic book “The Dark Knight Returns” from which the movie takes many of its cues (and which has Superman, working for the government originally, sent to take out Batman who has to use preparation and a tactical advantage to fight him):
In Batman v Superman Superman is no lackey of the government; if anything many of the world’s governments distrust the guy. But it is Superman who goes to Gotham and starts the confrontation… at the behest of Lex Luthor. And unlike The Dark Knight Returns, Superman comes out swinging, pulverizing the Batmobile with one punch. Why would Superman do Lex Luthor’s bidding? What is Lex hoping to accomplish? That would be spoiling. But know that when the fight is over, Batman will be able to point to Superman and say, “He started it!”
SUPERMAN STARTED IT! Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice opens on March 25, 2016 and also stars Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, Holly Hunter, Scoot McNairy and Jeremy Irons.
