Jennifer Lawrence talks Mystique in X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST

Mystique (1)

The most enduring character in the X-Men films isn’t Wolverine or Charles Xavier’s failing range of hair-care products. It’s Mystique. In the core films, she’s had a pretty strong presence, evolving from a buttt-naked ass-kicker to a solid character with her own motivations and goals. Who happens to be butt-naked.

Jennifer “Hunger Games” Lawrence is pretty much in charge of the blue-skinned wonder right now. It’s an arduous role, and it’s one that Lawrence had time to talk about recently.

“I’m naked, but when I do get to wear clothes, I love the ’70s outfits,” Lawrence said to SciFiNow.

Some of the Mystique look is a little different, but we’re still using the same paint. But she’s different in this film too. She was struggling – like a lot of normal humans – with the way she looked, and she was covered up a lot in the first movie, but this time she is Mutant and proud.

I don’t envy the preparation that goes into transforming into Mystique for these films. Even though they’ve got the process down of smurfing Lawrence up from many hours to just several, it’s still pretty taxing to go through that every day on the set.

X-Men: Days of Future Past is out next year, and also stars Hugh Jackman, Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore and Peter Dinklage. Bryan Singer directs.
