Let's start a debate with this new footage for LINCOLN

Politics, for all intents and purposes, is pretty boring. Unless Michael Bay decides to become a senator and make an explosive phillibuster or two, things are pretty much cut and dry in that realm.

Oscar bait magnet Lincoln has chosen the right time to release though, and with the American political racing starting to heat up, this could be a film with some relevance that will attract the crowds. Because what the world needs right now, is more master debaters.

Sure, there’s a few familiar lines and scenes in this trailer, but overall  it’s basically a whole new set of footage, wrapped around new scenes and moments that showcase Sally Fields as Mary Todd Lincoln and Tommy Lee Jones as Thaddeus Stevens, with some stirring visuals and music. Kinda makes you wish that more politicians would take a few cues from it, don’t it?

Lincoln also stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Michael Stuhlbarg, Jackie Earle-Haley, Jared Harris, Lee Pace, James Spader, Walton Goggins, John Hawkes and David Strathairn and is out next year January.

I know that it’s probably historically accurate, but is anybody else a little weirded out by Daniel Day-Lewis’ reedy voice? I’m missing Bill the Butcher or Daniel Plainview’s guttural snarl.

It is a little jarring. But I guess it’s an historical thing or something.
