You’ve got to love Nicolas Cage. The films that he chooses this day may be more notable for creating internet memes than winning widespread acclaim, but bless his heart, because he’s not quitting the crazy-face business any time soon.
The Cagemeister will be pulling all new kinds of deranged facial expressions again though, as he looks to out his own spin on a mix of Death Wish and the Punisher, as he’s just agreed to headline I Am Wrath.
From the minds of Yvan Gauthier and Paul Sloan, I Am Wrath finds Cage as a bloke by the name of Stanley, husband to a murdered wife, who flips after finding out about her death.
As usual, the thin blue line is ineffective in apprehending the people responsible for the crime due to corruption within the police department, so Stanley decides to take matters into his own hands, and go full vigilante, against anyone who stands in his way, even if they wear a police uniform.
William “Killer Joe” Friedkin is looking to helm the project, so this one could have some real meat on the bone of handled correctly. Also, any excuse to see Nicholas Cage go completely mental, is okay by us. If the current schedule works out, Cage will be screaming and shooting at perps come next year February.
