It would appear WTF depravity is the order of the day around here, and if we’re going to follow on from a movie starring Lindsay Lohan and a porn star named after a famous Hollywood icon, then we need to up our game. And by up our game, I actually mean get down and filthy. And luckily this new red-band trailer and pig riding poster for Filth, the new film based on Trainspotting writer Irvine Welsh’s twisted and darkly humurous tale of sex, drugs and even more sex and drugs, delivers on all the filthy goods!

Scheming Bruce Robertson (James McAvoy), a bigoted and corrupt policeman, is in line for a promotion and will stop at nothing to get what he wants. Enlisted to solve a brutal murder and threatened by the aspirations of his colleagues, including Ray Lennox (Jamie Bell), Bruce sets about ensuring their ruin, right under the nose of unwitting Chief Inspector Toal. As he turns his colleagues against one another by stealing their wives and exposing their secrets, Bruce starts to lose himself in a web of deceit that he can no longer control. His past is slowly catching up with him, and a missing wife, a crippling drug habit and suspicious colleagues start to take their toll on his sanity. The question is: can he keep his grip on reality long enough to disentangle himself from the filth?

This looks utterly insane. But in a completely good way. Everybody appears to have cranked it up to 11, and is just having an absolute ball of a time with the script. McAvoy has been turning in solid performance after solid performance lately, but here he’s apparently on a whole other level. A level filled with large amounts of narcotics.

The Filth will be giving UK audiences the finger on October 4, 2013, but there’s no wider international release date set yet.
