THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN finds its Harry Osborn

1 min read

Progress is starting to pick up on the sequel for The Amazing Spider-Man. Director Marc Webb is back to direct the character once again, while Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone return as Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy respectively. Added to that, is Jamie Foxx as the villain Electro, and now, one other crucial character spot has been filled.

Announcing his choice for the actor to play Harry Osborn, Webb has chosen Dane “Chronicle” DeHaan as his number one pick. Originally played by James Franco in the Sam Raimi trilogy of films starring the web-head, Harry is the son of industrialist Norman Osborn, who becomes BFFs with Parker.

Of course, friendships get strained, what with Parker having that whole secret identity thing, and the fact that Osborn has parenting issues that turn into goblin-related problems later down the line.

DeHaan put in a great turn in Chronicle, a film which also dealt with super-powers and will no doubt serve as a handy guide for him in the upcoming sequel.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is light on plot right now, but hopefully with a more focused script from writers Robert Orci and Alex Kurtzman, less studio meddling and an opportunity to spin a new tale that lives up to the promises made in the first film, we could have something spectacular on our hands.

What say you on this casting choice?

  1. I liked this spiderman more than toby mcquire one. All his emotonal bagage was resolved in it. No secret this or day by day nonsense. Just skull smashing and emma stone.

  2. RedJoker

I actually can see this guy pulling it off without a problem, even though he would never have been the first person to spring to mind.
