Old men die hard, it would seem. Hell, it’s an idea that has kickstarted a brand new genre in films. Namely retired secret agents/black op specialists/assassins coming back for one more night of ye olde ultra-violence and showing those damn kids that they’re still the kind of people that you don’t mess with. And in John Wick, Keanu Reeves is the kind of guy whose puppy you do not abuse.
An ex-hitman comes out of retirement to track down the gangsters that took everything from him. With New York City as his bullet-riddled playground, JOHN WICK (Keanu Reeves) is a fresh and stylized take on the “assassin genre”.
I’m not expecting much of a story for John Wick, which will most likely set Keanu Reeves up on his quest for puppy vengeance. But I am expecting some quality fight choreography, something which the trailer gives me hope for. John Wick is getting wicked on October 24 and also stars Adrianne Palicki, Willem Dafoe, Bridget Moynahan, Ian McShane, Jason Isaacs, Alfie Allen, Lance Reddick, John Leguizamo, Dean Winters and Michael Nyqvist.
Veteran stunt coordinator Chad Stahelski directs.
