I’m watching Gods of Egypt this Thursday coming and I cannot wait! I think. The reason for my confusion is that up until now I thought the upcoming Alex Proyas directed fantasy action adventure looked like a gold-plated pile of poop. I do so love terrible films for always inspiring me to new creative writing heights, and boy, it looked like this movie might just have had the potential to get me the Pulitzer!
And then they went and threw a giant CG spanner in the works by releasing this much improved Superbowl trailer, which now leaves me concerned that this movie might actually not suck completely! What am I going to shamelessly mock and deride now? Damn it, Hollywood, you’re so inconsiderate to my needs!
Check out the new trailer below.
In this spectacular action-adventure, the survival of mankind hangs in the balance as an unexpected mortal hero Bek [Brenton Thwaites] undertakes a thrilling journey to save the world and rescue his true love. In order to succeed, he must enlist the help of the powerful god Horus [Nikolaj Coster-Waldau] in an unlikely alliance against Set [Gerard Butler], the merciless god of darkness, who has usurped Egypt’s throne, plunging the once peaceful and prosperous empire into chaos and conflict. As their breathtaking battle against Set and his henchmen takes them into the afterlife and across the heavens, both god and mortal must pass tests of courage and sacrifice if they hope to prevail in the epic final confrontation.
Gods of Egypt stars Gerard Butler, Brenton Thwaites, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Courtney Eaton, Elodie Yung and Chadwick Boseman. It is scheduled for release on 26 February 2016.
