You know what DC should do, in my over-inflated opinion, when it comes to box office dominance? Ditch live action and throw a couple extra million dollars at their animation department instead. Because when it comes to hits and misses, Warner Bros. Animation has one hell of a solid track record. The animated moves and TV series spinning out of that studio are usually (Usually!) pure magic, drawing upon the lore and charm of the source material that their feature films have so far failed to do.

One such series which really stood head and shoulders above the rest however? Young Justice. I’ve spoken before about just how ahead of the curve this two-season wonder of a show was. It had the action and characters that young fans could relate to, while it also showcased a surprising amount of maturity for its time-slot. All that, and with enough action to satisfy even Zack Snyder on a weekly basis.

Pity we only got a pair of seasons then before Young Justice was unceremoniously cancelled on a cliffhanger ending to make way for some other shows. But heroes never die, as Warner Bros. officially revealed via poster-format that season 3 is coming:

HELLS YES. Original producers Greg Weisman and Brandon Vietti are also returning, to begin a new season of the future heroes of the DC Comics universe graduating from sidekick to main event players as the press release via io9 promised “new twists, turns and dangerous new threats for the team.”

Combined with my guilty pleasure love of Teen Titans Go and the upcoming Justice League Action, Cartoon Network is going to have a lot more spandex in its future. Just the way I like it. At least now we’ll finally get to see just what the hell Vandal Savage and his Secret Society were working towards at long bloody last after he managed to remove the Justice League from their grand scheme.

  1. There isn’t enough slow motion for Zack Snyder.
