I quite liked the original Percy Jackson film. It was a fun twist on the Harry Potter formula, swopping wands for lightning and examining what it would be like to be the son of an Olympian deity. With a sequel on the way, director OdinSon director Thor Freudenthal has a chance to skip the exposition and get down to adventurin’ business.
Even if he does have to borrow a few ideas from Wrath of the Titans to do so.
Percy Jackson, the son of Poseidon, continues his epic journey to fulfill his destiny, as he teams with his demigod friends to retrieve the Golden Fleece, which has the power to save their home and training ground, Camp Half-Blood.
The sequel is looking solid so far, but it also seems to be lacking something to make it more appealing. A capable cast of actors is present here, but hopefully, there’s more to the final film than what is present here in the trailer from MTV. The half-blood godlings are out later this year in August, and stars Logan Lerman, Brandon T. Jackson, Alexandra Daddario, Douglas Smith, Nathan Fillion, Anthony Head, and Stanley Tucci.
