With Gamescom just around the corner and the marketing machines for Black Ops 2, Darksiders 2, Hitman, Far Cry 3, Assassin’s Creed 3, Halo 4 and more coming into full swing it’s clear to see that the run in to the end of this year is going to be incredibly busy and one other title fighting for the limelight is Borderlands 2
Borderlands 2 is one of those titles that I am really excited about and after my earlier hands on with the game that excitement just grew.
Now Gearbox VP, Steve Gibson, has been chatting to CVG and has revealed that Borderlands 2 is going to be at least 50-60% bigger than the original game thanks to the amazing strides they’ve managed to make on the technology side.
Not only will the game be bigger than ever but it is also going to be a lot more alive and jam packed.
But it’s also so much denser. Heck, just the city of Sanctuary, something like that couldn’t exist in the first game. Our technology has evolved a lot to enable us to do that now.
But while bigger and better is all good but what about the people who never played the original Borderlands and are a bit worried they’re being left behind?
A decision that was made at the very beginning of the game was that at no point at any time could someone in the story or design team ever assume that some person has played Borderlands 1. You just start it from scratch.
There are cute winks at different things. For example, we have this thing where if you played the first one we detect your saved game and you get some cool unlocks.
It seems like these guys haven’t missed a trick with fans of the series being rewarded for playing the first one while newcomers are being welcomed with open arms.
