Catch up on The Witcher’s story right here

The Witcher is highly revered partly because of the intricate narrative it weaves. It’s a delightful combination of political intrigue and high fantasy, not too dissimilar to something like Game of Thrones. The story the trilogy of games has been crafting is coming to a head next month – so it seems like the perfect time for a little recap, no?

But how do you catch up on such a complicated tale without actually experiencing it yourself? With this handy little infographic an avid fan created, that’s how. Although it’s not from CD Project Red officially, I bet they’d have a hard time coming up with a more thorough (yet extremely concise) version of events – which sets the stage perfectly for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt next month.

CD Project Red have expressed numerous times that The Witcher 3, despite being the final game, is actually a great starting point for fans who may have missed out on the previous two. Considering their platform exclusivity (the first Witcher is still PC only), that’s a pretty good thing – but there’s still a lot of lore that might fly over your head. This recap does a great job of filling in the important gaps though – so that you can tell your Nilfgaardians apart from your spectral Wild Hunters.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is out for PS4, Xbox One and PC on May 19th. It’s looking really, really good too.

  1. Good little synopsis. Would still love to play through them myself though.

The reason I am not getting the witcher 3 is because im too geeky to play it without playing the other 2 first too. Pity though, it seems like a series i can really get into but unfortunately the wierd combat from the 1st game made me quit 1hour in.

Well, what did you expect from the aurora engine? (translation: The same engine used for Neverwinter Nights 2)

Push through it man, I played it last year and although it is shit, you kind of get used to it once you get immersed in the story.

Although this wont replace the quality story of the game. It is still a nice recap for someone who want to jump into Witcher 2 (which is still an awesome game)

Thanks, i think this will be the best option for me at the moment. I dont think i can handle that slice and dice minigame dance thing they have for combat.

There are a lot more videos on youtube, around 2-3 hours of viewing and you have a clear idea about the story.

I agree with you, it is so painful to go through Witcher 1 … it is really sad because it had a great story.

I got a better idea, I’m gonna go to Youtube and type in “The Witcher the movie” watch it, then do the same to the sequel. After that I’ll know exactly whats going on!

Sure it might be like 8 hours per game give or takebut I’m a nerd loser that doesnt have anything better to do with his time.

What am I doing with my life?
