Don’t expect to see Borderlands 2 on the Wii U

A new console. A hit game. Opportunity. Underpants. Profit! With the Wii U out this week locally, there’s more than a fair share of third party games arriving, from Mass Effect 3 to Batman Arkham City. So what about Borderlands 2 then? You’d expect that tablet controller to be a good fit for the loot-centric title. But you’d be wrong as well.

Speaking to GamesMaster through NintendoEverything, Gearbox head honcho Randy Pitchford explained that their popular sequel wouldn’t be popping up on the new Nintendo console, because they just couldn’t think of any decent features to add to the game to warrant such a port;

We get asked if there is going to be a Wii U version of Borderlands, and the reason why there’s not is because we couldn’t think of a natural, obvious, ‘OMG, I want that for what the Wii U brings to the table’ feature.

The thing is, while we may not be seeing Borderlands invading the Miiverse, we will be seeing some chestbursting action instead with Aliens: Colonial Marines. One such feature that will be present on the Wii U version of the game, is that damn motion tracker which would make any battle-hardened soldier wet their pants the second it starts pinging;

But with Aliens, the first thing we thought was ‘Holy shit, I can have a motion controller in my hands!’ When it’s there in my lap it feels like I’m part of the movie.

It’s kind of sad that Nintendo won’t be privy to Handsome Jack and his schemes involving the vault hunters on that console, but at the same time, it’s admirable that Gearbox doesn’t want to port over a game that feels buggy and jacked up on that platform.

And besides, the original Wii console had plenty of that crap anyway.

Something wrong gentlemen? You come here prepared to read the words of a madman, and instead found a lunatic obsessed with comics, Batman and Raul Julia's M Bison performance in the 1994 Street Fighter movie? Fine! Keep your bio! In fact, now might be a good time to pray to it!
