Dragon’s Dogma getting a sequel

It may have been the very definition of a Marmite game – one you either loved or hated, with zero middle ground – but it’s done well enough at retail to warrant a sequel. That’s right folks – Dragon’s Dogma will soon be a franchise.

Capcom’s confirmed that Dragon’s Dogma is now the 55th Capcom title to top the 1 million shipped mark. That’s shipped, not sold, but indicates that it’s something people want. Capcom’s remaining tight-lipped on actual sales figures – but it’s speculated to have moved  450K units in Japan, 190K in North America and 120K in Europe to date.

As a result of its success, Capcom plans on transforming Dragon’s Dogma in to a viable franchise, and that’s not something I’m too upset about. It might not have found favour with everybody, but I rather enjoyed Dragon’s Dogma – and I hope a sequel will at least fix the game’s glaring flaws; like the lack of any sort of fast-travel system, the regularly overused speech, the general lack of polish and the nearly missing story.

What would you like to see in a Dragon’s Dogma sequel?

There most definitely was a fast travel system. It just made you play it smart and is my favorite fast travel system out of every RPG to date. And I find it funny that the Dark Souls series gets praised for having cryptic lore but this game does it and suddenly it’s bad? I mean I agree more story would be great but with the inclusion of the Dark Arisen DLC it has a full story. As for dialogue…nah it needs work. It gets repetitive.
