Oh Minecraft, is there anyone out there who doesn’t love you? Well, apparently not, as the game has surfaced, from tongue in cheek references in Skyrim, to flatout mad love imitation in Borderlands 2. And now, it’s going to be invaded by a game based on tribal warfare, exploding tigers and madness.

Far Cry 3 will be crossing over to the blocky side on October 26, when Ubisoft releases a “map and texture pack” for the game. According to the press release, the downloadable additions will include "modifications to all aspects of the original game, including environments, weapons and tools", while allowing players to "discover key Far Cry 3 locations and characters, including Vaas, Jason and Citra, all completely redesigned in Minecraft style. The map also features over 50 Easter Eggs, hidden throughout the Islands."

Ubisoft has also whipped up some doctored images, which jokingly swap the two vastly different game styles around. Still, it’s a nice touch overall, even if the skeptic inside of me thinks of it as a PR move to market the game before it’s even released, attempting to gain some sort of wide crossover appeal.

Shoo, I’ve been hanging around Geoff for way too long.
